2019 Hawkesbury Art Prize finalist, Fiona Kostidis, is an emerging artist who began painting when she moved from a busy city life to the quietness of central Victoria. She is a painter who deeply enjoys painting in solitude, and other times with friends, enjoying the natural connections that develop through shared experiences of being immersed in nature.
For this new body of work, Fiona left her local surrounds of regional Victoria to explore further afield, immersing herself in a new topography, history and palette.
“These landscapes were painted in my recent wanderings through the Northern Territory and in Victoria. They are fragments of the wonder of a greater natural world and areas of Australia that are unique and utterly absorbing”.
