Tara Burke is a Melbourne-born ceramicist currently based in Sydney, Australia. Working with various materials ranging from terracotta to porcelain, Tara uses hand-building techniques to create vessels focused on accommodating floral forms.

The small vases with ceramic lids were created to celebrate small, humble flowers that grow in the garden or on nature-strips. Designed to support petite stems, the vases provide space for flowers to mimic their natural shapes and movements. Some vases are designed to display water above the lid, which allows light into the vase and lends a tranquility to arrangements. The fluted ikebana vases in the series were constructed to support larger stems and branches. The flutes allow for negative space between flowers, and the structure of the vase provides balance as well as a sculptural element to arrangements. When holding flowers, the vases provide a humble, temporary, indoor garden.
